CHANNEL O VM AWARDS 2009 WINNERS!!! UNFORTUNATELY, GHANA DID NOT GET NONE BUT WE KNOW WE GOT MORE THAN THAT.. GH FOREVER!!!



The 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards took place at the Carnival City in Gauteng on Thursday 29 October.

A trio of double wins turned the 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards into a show of strength for artists from Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Darey Art Alade (Nigeria), Gal Level (Namibia) and Buffalo Souljah (Zimbabwe) each won two awards, proving their pulling power with Africa’s music fans and Channel O’s viewers who chose the winners in the 14 categories.

Darey was named Best Male at the star-studded event at Carnival City on Thursday 29 October, attended by the cream of Africa’s entertainment scene and hosted by another talented trio in Vuzu VJ Nonhle and Channel O’s own Lungile and KB.

Performers included nominees 2Face Idibia, Sound Sultan, HHP (Jabba), Nneka as well as Bongani Fassie (Jozi) & the Umoja Choir. Nigeria had five awards and South African musicians lost out again with only Khuli taking home the Best Newcomer award.

Ghana’s hopefuls Okyeame Kwame and Kwaku-T and D-Black both lost out in the three and one nominations they had respectively.

Special recognition award - Bongani Fassie received it on behalf of his mother, Brenda Fassie.

The 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards will be broadcast on Sunday 8 November at 21:00, with the Red Carpet Show at 20:30.
